A Week of Fun and We're Only Half Way Done!

Welcome to Griffin Timothy Hornschemeier, born 2/23/12 at 12:37 am.  Weighing in at 8 lbs 11 oz and 20.5 inches long, a big boy :)  Congratulations to Brad, Carla and Dylan on the newest addition to their family!

Monday was a fun day for the Kandell boys.  We went to visit our friends Lauren and Raven at their farm!   Lauren is about 11 weeks into her pregnancy with baby # 2 and just as busy as ever.  The boys got to help feed the pygmy goats, mama hen, their guinea hens, and duck as well as their dogs and cat :)  Daniel got to see what fresh eggs look like and feel them too.  Daniel also got to paint pictures with Raven and play with her kitchen, and we even got to see the family's new hoop house, where the kids got to make it rain inside.  We had so much fun, and can't wait to visit again soon.  We are starting some new things in the house here as well, Daniel and I both need a little more structure, so we now have chore cards and school cards that he gets to move around as things get done.  This seems like a good way to keep him constantly busy, he still gets downtime, but it should help with his wild child behavior :)

We will also have our home brew of Dopplebach ready when we all get together for Joseph's birthday party next weekend!  Brian finished bottling his beer on Monday night :)

So I just found out some great news!  We are going to have 3 new babies to join our extended family in 2012!  Baby H due February 14, well I guess this little man is a little past due and we hope to meet him in the next few days :), Baby H #2 due in June, and Baby K due in August.  So excited for all the new little ones coming.

During the day on Saturday we enjoyed the beautiful weather, Daniel and Joseph playing in the yard and drawing pictures with chalk, mommy hanging out the laundry, and daddy cleaned the cars.    Then we went to my cousin's to celebrate her 30th birthday.

Tomorrow we are going to Indiana to visit our good friends Lauren and Raven.  Lauren is a friend who went through TT with me at World Peace Yoga a few years ago.  We both went through our first pregnancies together and she is now due with her second baby in August.  Can't wait to let the kiddos play and hike tomorrow.  I will be sure to take pictures while we are there and post.

Happy Wednesday

Today, the boys and I went to the toy store.  They were each allowed to pick out a toy under $10 for Valentines Day.  Daniel picked out toys for him and Joseph.  They got 4 new cars!!!  Even better, these cars can run on the train tracks we already have.  Then we came home and got changed so that we could go outside and play.  The boys had a great time running and crawling around the yard, pushing toys  and using their "outside" voices.  Now it's time for naps and for mommy to do laundry and take a break too.  Here are some picks from the boys playing today.

Happy Valentines Day!

Wow, what a day!  We did so many fun things today, like painting, tracing letters, counting, reading from the Bible, and making coffee filter flowers.None of these were specific to this holiday, but fun none the less.

I also let Daniel watch Hook this afternoon, surprised that he enjoyed it so much.  He  jumped around the house saying he was Peter Pan, threw his hands up and covered himself with pixie dust and said he was thinking his happy thoughts.  It was so much fun to watch him use his wonderful imagination, and Joey enjoyed watching his big brother.  I guess I need to make a few costumes for the boys to play dress up with: Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee just to name a few.

Love My Boys

My boys are so much fun, today we went to the craft store and got some projects for Valentines Day.  Daniel painted a magnet of Scooby Doo, and tomorrow we are going to make pink and red flowers out of coffee filters.

Both boys played very well and on their own after naptime today, I even made dinner without having to run out of the kitchen 50 times to stop Daniel from climbing over Joseph.  Joseph played quietly in the playroom and Daniel colored and drew pictures on his easel.  Then we all watched Jake and The Neverland Pirates tonight...it was a special episode with the return of Peter Pan.

A picture per Daniel's request, he is such a little ham...just like his mommy :)

I was able to get one room in the house at least fairly clean, now tomorrow onto the other rooms in the downstairs.  Lots of laundry was done today, dishes were done, and now it's time to craft and relax with my main squeeze :)  I love my life.

A New Week, and New Projects

Welcome Monday morning!!!  Although I hate to have Brian go to work on Mondays, it is by far my favorite day, it is the start of a brand new week.  Looking outside this morning I see the sun shining and I know that we have so many fun things to do on a sunny day, even if it is a cold day :)  I know I will be hanging laundry out today, and there is nothing like the smell of laundry dried in the fresh air and sunshine.  We are going to play outside in the inch of snow we got over the weekend, we need to get some posterboard and envelopes to finish party favors and mail invitations for Joseph's birthday party....OMG my baby turns ONE in  about 2 1/2 weeks! How did that happen?

 sharing food and trains
Look mama, no hands!  I can stand all by myself!

I talked with mom's friend Susan yesterday, and I think we decided on a big birthday cupcake for Joseph and then I will bake something too and let everyone decorate :)  The theme for Joseph's party:  The Backyardigans,  he watches and dances to the music every time they come on, kind of like Daniel was with Thomas.
I also have more craft items I'm working on, like the little afghan for Claire, and I want to make a couple of sweaters for the boys...knit items work up so much faster than crochet, and I need to finish the boys PJ's.  Busy, busy mommy.  Hope this week is open enough that I can punch a lot of what I need to get done out.  Plus I have a ton of clean up and organizing that needs to get done.

Sunday Mornings :)

Another day of wonderful yoga, I look forward to my two hours of mommy time every Sunday starting at 11.  It is just enough to revitalize me for the week ahead, and I still get to enjoy most of the day with my boys.  This has been a big weekend for mommy, I actually subbed for a gymnastics teacher yesterday, and today I am teaching yoga and then meeting with Susan, co owner of Cakery Bakery and one of mom's friends to discuss birthday cakes for the boys :)  This weekend of teaching will be what pays for Joseph's birthday cake!  I know It is easy and less expensive to make my own, but it is not something that will happen yearly and if I want to go a little crazy on my boys birthdays every few years I'm going to, that's why I'm mommy.

I also had to capture some pictures of my boys this morning.  Daniel was sharing his fruit loops with Joseph,  I love watching the boys be brothers :)

Mommy tried to catch a smile and missed.

Snowy Day

So what does this mama do on a snowy and cold day with two little guys?  Well, since we have been at the park or zoo every day for almost 2 weeks we decided to have a movie day today!  I must say it felt pretty great to sit around most of the day cuddled under a blanket.  We did our share of playing trains, racing cars down the hallway and coloring, but mommy also got a lot of time to knit today :)

After such a great day, we ended with a little quarrel between brothers...Joseph won this round.  Time and time again I warn Daniel that one of these times that he is pestering Joseph, Joey will fight back.  Today was the day, Daniel sat on top of him in the Mickey chair then stuck his face right in Joseph's.  Joseph made a few noises to let Daniel know he wasn't happy;when Daniel didn't back down he bit him, one of these days he will learn :)
Although I cuddled him and held an ice pack under his eye to help it feel better him, I also let both boys know mommy was not happy with either one of them, and biting is not something I will tolerate.

All in all this has been a wonderful week, such fun being able to enjoy the outdoors so much in the middle of winter.

Snow and The Cincinnati Zoo

This morning we awoke bright and early and were invited to the zoo with our friends Nichole, Kyle, Asher and Naphtali.  This was our 5th day at the zoo since last Monday, and it was wet and chilly, but we had a wonderful time.  It's not often that you go to the zoo and there are only two cars in the parking lot....other than the people who work there.  After a rough night and an early morning the boys and I were in need of some time out of the house and there was no better place to be today.

The boys and I truly enjoy the companionship of our friends, all of the kids are between 9 mos and a year apart in age, so they all get along and play well.  We got to see the Giraffes, Elephants, goats, cows, bulls and sheep along with the polar bears who were playing this afternoon and the mystic manatee.  I think after being at a park or the zoo everyday for the last week and a half is finally hitting the boys and both crashed as soon as their little heads hit the pillows tonight.  I am hopeful that we will get a good nights sleep.  Also, twice this week Daniel has pooped on the potty!!!  I know, I'm mommy and I get really excited when he actually uses the potty.  He also goes in public restrooms with no problem and I am thankful for that.  Joseph is getting so close to taking his first steps...he can stand on his own for a few seconds, but I think he likes to crawl better.

I received my business cards for Earth Mother Moon Baby Boutique today so that was another plus in my book.  I am having so much fun with my knitting right now, I can't wait to get some items finished and posted on my FB page and the website.  Hopefully by the end of the month we will be able to hook up to paypal as well.

I am meeting with Susan this weekend at Cakery Bakery in Anderson to discuss what Joseph's birthday cake is going to look like.  His birthday theme is The Backyardigans, and invitations will be going out next Monday :)  The party is on March 3 and I hope to see many of our family and friends there.
