Easter Week!

I can simply state that we had an awesome, although slightly rainy week this week!  We started out our fantastic week with a visit from sitto.  We were so excited to see her, we had wonderful food, playtime at the park and even got to go to the zoo.....did I mention we also made BEER!

Sitto really seemed to enjoy her weekend with the boys and I know Daniel especially enjoyed seeing sitto.  Daniel made sure to invite sitto to play trains and watch Thomas videos from the moment she got up, till he finally crashed at night  :).  We took Sitto for a trip to Winton Woods:  Parky's Farm, so we could see the farm animals and play at the playground.  Then Brian made his beer which is an American Brown Ale, and then Monday we spent our day walking around the zoo, enjoying the zoo blooms and new baby Giraffe.

Then the rest of the week we were pretty well rained out from doing anything outdoors.  Weather man says this is our highest amount of rainfall on record for the month of April and we should expect another 4-6 inches by Thursday night =enormous amounts of flooding in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

Today was Easter Sunday...hope all of our friends and family enjoyed this special day.  We enjoyed our day with church this morning and spending time with mom, dad, Jason and Dan.  I was so happy the rain let up for a few hours and everyone had a safe drive over and a fun filled afternoon.  We enjoyed the company and I know Daniel and Joseph enjoyed all the goodies from the Easter Bunny, who made two stops to our house today  :).

Also, wanted to update everyone:  Daniel now weighs 31 lbs, and Joseph is 12.2 lbs, 23 1/2" long and has a head circumference of 15".  He is almost double the size Daniel was at a month old! Both boys are doing very well, Daniel is starting to memorize some of the nursery rhymes from the Bumper Book he got from Aunt Susie, and is beginning to "share" some items with Joseph.  Joseoh is doing very well at holding his head up, he enjoys watching Daniel play with his train track ( literally sat in my lap and had his eyes fixed on the train table watching Daniel play for about 1/2 hour straight).  He is also beginning to coo, smile and play more  :)

Here are some pictures from this week, please enjoy and God bless

Play Time With My Boys

What a wonderful week we have had!  My oldest boy is finally starting to come around and actually came up to sit next to me last night.  I was overjoyed to have him cuddle with me again...he has not come up to sit with me on his own since Joseph was born, normally he sits with me for about two seconds and I have to ASK him to sit with me.  This time, while mommy was rocking Joseph, Daniel decided he wanted to come up with us.  All three of us rocked and watched Tarzan.

On Sunday afternoon we actually took both boys to the park, and Daniel was super excited to be riding in his little red wagon again.  He didn't even mind sharing it with Joseph  :).

Today I took the boys to Winton Woods park for the afternoon and then to lunch with daddy, we all had a great time and Daniel even took a nap for me from about 2:30 - 5:40!  This allowed me to enjoy some play time with Joseph too.  It was so cute this afternoon at the park...Daniel got to see lots of kids and even talked to a few of them.  What did he talk to these kids about?  If you guessed Thomas you would be correct.  He talked about Misty Island Rescue, Bash, Dash, Ferdinand, and even the shake shake bridge :)  He has become a very verbal little man.  Joseph is loving tummy time, and is starting to coo, even grin from time to time.  He is also gaining lots of strength in his neck and is lifting his chin up off the floor to look in front of him.  He is also trying very hard to roll over.  What a pair of little men I have to hang out with, and so much fun!

The Boys also had a visit from Grandma and grandpa Snodgrass yesterday...they played trains and watched Finding Nemo with Daniel; they rocked and played with Joseph too.  We had a great time, and mommy and grandma even went to Starbucks for a little treat while grandpa watched the boys  :)

Joseph is One Month Old!

WOW!  Time really does fly, especially when your family is growing and changing every day.  This has been a great first month as a family of four, albeit challenging at times.  So, here is a little update on our first month.

Joseph Robert Kandell was born March 3, 2011.  He will be one month old at 1:58 tomorrow morning.  He was a big boy at birth and is already sporting some of his 3-6 month clothes :)  When Daniel was two months old, he was still fitting some newborn and 0-3 month clothes...most with room to spare.  Joseph is staring to loose some hair now too, straight across the top, almost as if he was wearing a headband.  His umbilical cord stump finally came off a little over a week ago.  He is cooing, reaching a little for his toys and sometimes grinning now; he is also a little snuggle bug.  Almost every time I put him down, even if he is fast asleep he will wake up and cry till he is close to mommy or daddy again.

The cuddling is so sweet, but it is hard at night, he doesn't want to go in his bassinet once he joins us in bed...last night he slept from about 10:30 pm till almost 5:30 this morning.  Seven hours straight!!!  We both fell asleep while I was nursing him, but as soon as I woke up and moved him to his bassinet he started to squirm and grunt and moan, put him in my arms and all was quiet for the rest of the night.  I know this sleeping pattern won't last, but boy it would be great if it did.

Daniel has had a rough adjustment this first month, and I know he has a ways to go till he understands that nobody can take HIS place in our hearts, and that both him and Joseph hold a special place in us.  I am beginning to notice a few improvements though.  The weather is becoming nicer which is making it easier for us to get out of the house more often.  The last few days he has even started napping again, without putting up a fight.  I can't imagine what having a new person, clinging to mommy is like for him...I wish I knew how to make the transition easier for him, but all the things that I try, like asking him if he wants to do a puzzle or read or color while I nurse he says no to.  I know that things will get easier as time goes on and I learn how to share more time with both boys.  I have found the Moby wrap very useful when Daniel wants to play and Joseph does not want to be alone.  I have both hands pretty free with him wrapped up, so I can wear Joseph and let him sleep while I play with Daniel at the same time.

Yes, Joseph enjoys his pacifier when mommy needs  a break from being one.

Something new on our list of to dos to start the month of April...Home Brewing!   Brian went out and got everything we need to make our first beer, I think he is going to start on it tomorrow and I am anxious to be able to taste it in a few weeks  :)
