Looking Back at 2011

Taking a moment tonight to look back at the excitement of 2011.  It has been a wild year for our family,we started out in February with the marriage of our friend Phil to his sweetheart Amber, We experienced the birth of our second son on March 3 and the joy and craziness of having two under two :).  We bought a new car for our expanding family, and Brian has been studying for his Actuarial exam which he will be taking at the end of January.  I started a new home based business which I love.  I have tons of projects that I am currently working on and will be getting my logo in 2012.  We also welcomed Savanah (August), Emma (September) and now Claire Poppy (December 27) to our Kandell and Haungs extended familes.  Love seeing all the new little ladies around.  Here's to a funfilled 2012, hope to see more babies, more weddings and many more wonderful things from our family and friends.  I also look forward to the excitement of Daniel turning 3 and Joseph turning 1 in the next few months.

Happy New Year!!!!

Welcome Claire Kandell!!!

Can't believe Christmas has already come and gone, seems like it came around so quickly this year, I suppose that's because we now have 2 little Kandells' running around our home :).  The boys got pretty much everything they could possibly hope for.  Joseph got a lot of toys and new clothes, and Daniel got toys and clothes and some games that we can all play as a family, which he absolutely loves.   The past two days have been spent playing Memory and Cootie, games daddy and I have not played since we were kiddos too.  It has been a wonderful week, even though the holiday was a little compromised by the boys being sick which mommy and daddy have been fighting as well :(.

Here are some pics from the holiday week, enjoy :)

We also welcomed Aunt Kate and Uncle Jimmy's new baby girl Claire Kandell.  She was born at 3:30 pm on December 27, 2011 weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz and 21" long, she is a beautiful little lady, and we are so excited for Jimmy and Kate's new blessing.  Hope we get the opportunity to meet her soon.  Mommy and baby are doing well and they are preparing to be home on Thursday to begin their life as a family of 3.

I'm Back!!

So much has gone on in the past few months, but I will just fill in some of the details.

Brian is doing wonderful right now, aside from the fact that we have so much going on at home, he is helping me with many of my new ventures, as well as studying for his Actuarial Exam which he will be taking in January.  Be sure to wish him luck as this is a difficult test and he needs as much support as we can give him.  He is a wonderful husband and father, spends much of his time helping me out with the boys and reassuring me that everything will be okay, especially when I am feeling down.  He is the most giving man I know and likes to share his visions and dreams for our future.

Daniel has started, well, some potty training.  We are going to start really working on this new skill this week since there is not much else we need to do.  We will be trying every hour and right before and after bedtimes and naptime.  We are now working on prayer time before bed and although he does not yet have the hang of the sign of the cross he looks so darn cute trying :)  We are working with play doh a lot more now, and he is trying very hard to color inside the lines in his coloring books.  He is a wonderful big brother and calls for Joey to come in and play trains several times throughout the day, tells mommy when Joseph spits up (which is a rarity now) and even grabs the wipes for Joseph's diaper changes.

We went to Sitto and Pa's house over this past weekend and one of the funniest things Daniel said to Brian after getting up from a nap was "Mommy will never see me in time out again."  Ha ha, I guess you now know he has been frequenting the corner at home :)  All part of the fun of growing up!

Joseph is hitting many big milestones!  He is eating everything and anything he can get his hands on and has a huge appetite.  Loves playing with cars and of course his brother's trains; he recently has started trying to walk behind his push toys, I do believe we will have two little men running around our house in the next couple of months.

People have already been asking when the next Kandell will grace our home...I will tell you that yes, we are contemplating another child in our future, but this is at least another year away.  We have had March and May babies and I would like to have a summer baby the next time.  This means we will not even be trying for close to another year.  Right now we are very happy watching our beautiful boy learn and grow, seeing the little men they are becoming.

I have recently started teaching again!  I teach Kids Yoga and will start a Gentle Yoga class on New Years Day.  I am vcery excited to be with so many beautiful people again.  It is a wonderful and fun community.  I am also starting my own business for mom and baby. It is currently called Bubbles and Bows, but with the new year we will be changing our name to Earth Mother Moon Baby.  I am very excited to add this to my list of activities and enjoy creating for others :)  I am also going to be an aunt in just a matter of days, baby girl Kandell is due on Christmas Day 2011!

I will try to carve out more time to post as I had not done so since July...there really is no excuse, but I hope to be posting weekly if not daily from now on :)
Love and Peace to all and many blessings

Holy Cow I just turned 30!!!

Wow, I am now a thirty year old...how did that happen?!  In 30 years I have gone through so much.  I was born into a loving and incredible family, I have seen places that most people only get the chance to read about, I have made friends and lost friends.  I graduated from high school as well as college, I am certified yoga instructor, I taught gymnastics for over 10 years.  I found the love of my life in 2006, we married in February of 2008 and now have two little boys Daniel and Joseph...this man and these two boys are my love and my life I am so grateful for these gifts that God has given me, and for my extended family on both sides.  :)

I was lucky enough to celebrate my 30th birthday with my parents, my husband, boys and my brother and his friend Dan and I love them all very much.  We celebrated with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory soooo yummy.  My husband and boys gave me the most incredible gift, a photo book recapturing the events of the past year.  It is the most wonderful gift I could have been given.  Thank you to everyone for the cards and gifts...most of which I used to get my new diaper/travel bag...VERA BRADLEY!!

We also took our first big family trip this week.  We went to Baltimore, Maryland.  A good friend of ours got married, and we were able to have a date night while Daniel and Joey stayed with Sitto and Aunt Susie.  Thanks again mom and Susie for giving us a couple of date nights!  The boys did a great job at the hotel and in the car, considering we drove 12 hrs there and 12 back home.

This will be an exciting week too.  I get to talk to Matt, owner of You Do Yoga and hope to get a couple of classes to teach.  I will let everyone know how it goes on Friday .

Opportunity Knocks

Okay, I know this is an old picture...but it shows the excitement and the love I have for the practice of yoga, I am going to make this practice a part of my day again.  I practice at least once every two to three days with Joseph, but I rarely take the time to practice for myself.  I have cut my hair supper short, I feel good about my body and where I am physically and emotionally after the birth of my second son.  I had fallen into a rut, but am starting to feel like myself again.  This picture was taken just days before finding out I was pregnant with Daniel, I waited close to 14 months before going back to teaching.  I have a possible opportunity now with one of my mentors.  My friend and teacher is opening a second studio in Anderson, Ohio which is very close to my grandmothers home.  He has already sent me a text and vmail asking when we can get together and discuss teaching some classes.  I really feel this could be the opportunity I've been waiting for.  I will update later this week on how it all goes.  If this comes about I will be able to start teaching in September!
I feel this will open more doors to continue my study, and further enhance my passion for the practice.

Updates on the Kandells

It is so hard to believe how much the boys have grown in the past few months.  I am sorry to everyone that it has been such a long time since I last posted...so much has happened since Easter!  So I have decided that I need to update more frequently, I will try very hard to update at least once a week if not more.  So here we go, our May, June and July in review  :)

1.  Daniel has started taking gymnastics, and he does a wonderful job with it...he is becoming a better listener each time he goes to class and he got to show off for friends and family a few weeks ago.

2.  Daniel is cutting his 2 year molars!  He got his two bottom ones this past month, and I think he is feeling pressure now from his uppers.

3.  Found out that I am going to be an Aunt!!!  My sister in law Kate is due with her first baby Christmas Day 2011  :)

4.  Daniel is using his words more frequently, learning how to ask for things, tell people who he is and where he lives...we are now working on spelling our names.

5.  Daniel is becoming such a great helper with Joseph.  Often Daniel grabs a rag when he sees Joey spit up, asks to hold him or helps get what mommy needs to dress him.

6.  Joey started rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back, he is using his exersaucer, Johnny Jumper and playmat frequently.  He LOVES his Johnny Jumper!

7.  Joey cut his bottom central incisors in the past two weeks, beating Daniel by almost 3 weeks.  I think he is cutting his lateral incisors and his top central incisors as well., guessing we will see these in the next month or so.

8.  Joey is starting to eat cereal occasionally, he is starting to reach for food, but is not big on actually putting food in his mouth yet.

9.  We now have two cribs in the upstairs den and Joey started sleeping at least part of the night in his crib this week.  Both boys are typically ready for bed around 8:30 in the evening.

10.  Brian had a cyst removed from his neck this month and I chopped off my hair  :)

As for Brian and I, we are enjoying watching our boys grow and change every day, seeing there smiling faces each morning is a beautiful start to each day.  I can't imagine what my life would be like without my beautiful boys and I feel blessed to have them in my life.

I am looking forward to the rest of summer, and am hoping Brian and I can get a date night sometime soon.  I think it is important to work on our relationship as a couple just like it is important to work on our relationship with the boys.  Thinking a movie night, or reds game and dinner is in order soon.

Easter Week!

I can simply state that we had an awesome, although slightly rainy week this week!  We started out our fantastic week with a visit from sitto.  We were so excited to see her, we had wonderful food, playtime at the park and even got to go to the zoo.....did I mention we also made BEER!

Sitto really seemed to enjoy her weekend with the boys and I know Daniel especially enjoyed seeing sitto.  Daniel made sure to invite sitto to play trains and watch Thomas videos from the moment she got up, till he finally crashed at night  :).  We took Sitto for a trip to Winton Woods:  Parky's Farm, so we could see the farm animals and play at the playground.  Then Brian made his beer which is an American Brown Ale, and then Monday we spent our day walking around the zoo, enjoying the zoo blooms and new baby Giraffe.

Then the rest of the week we were pretty well rained out from doing anything outdoors.  Weather man says this is our highest amount of rainfall on record for the month of April and we should expect another 4-6 inches by Thursday night =enormous amounts of flooding in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

Today was Easter Sunday...hope all of our friends and family enjoyed this special day.  We enjoyed our day with church this morning and spending time with mom, dad, Jason and Dan.  I was so happy the rain let up for a few hours and everyone had a safe drive over and a fun filled afternoon.  We enjoyed the company and I know Daniel and Joseph enjoyed all the goodies from the Easter Bunny, who made two stops to our house today  :).

Also, wanted to update everyone:  Daniel now weighs 31 lbs, and Joseph is 12.2 lbs, 23 1/2" long and has a head circumference of 15".  He is almost double the size Daniel was at a month old! Both boys are doing very well, Daniel is starting to memorize some of the nursery rhymes from the Bumper Book he got from Aunt Susie, and is beginning to "share" some items with Joseph.  Joseoh is doing very well at holding his head up, he enjoys watching Daniel play with his train track ( literally sat in my lap and had his eyes fixed on the train table watching Daniel play for about 1/2 hour straight).  He is also beginning to coo, smile and play more  :)

Here are some pictures from this week, please enjoy and God bless
