Pics of Daniel walking around

Here are some recent pictures of Daniel, he started taking steps last Wednesday and just keeps getting more and more mobile.

Today was the start of a beautiful week. The service for Aunt Gloria is this Thursday, and there will be a lunch after at my cousin's house. I am also taking Daniel to say hello to Great Grandma and Grandpa Snodgrass...something I have been wanting to do for quite some time. I know they are watching over my family and would have been so proud to meet him and watch him grow.

On Friday Daniel and I are hoping to meet our friends for a hike at the zoo. We will likely go anyway, with this beautiful weather it should be the perfect day for it. Then Sitto is going to be here in the evening and we will celebrate Easter this weekend. Wow...I think we are going to have a busy week

Winds of Change

A friend wrote a post not too long ago about how to explain illness and death to a child. I cannot imagine how I would go about this myself, except to say that whomever was lost is now with God, and watching down on us always. After 33 days my great aunt decided to stop her pain, and end her fight. Aunt Gloria you will live on in our hearts and memories forever, I know you are with your parents and sisters and probably listening to the Van Dells and dancing like I remember you always doing. I am glad you are no longer in pain.

Aunt Gloria was such an amazing woman, always caring so much for her family and friends. She loved nature, and the animals that surrounded her home. She was friends with mother earth, always mindful of her garden and the soul in each plant she helped to live and grow. I know she will keep watch over our family, over the trees and plants we grow, over the animals we tend to, and the children we teach and love.

Daniel Takes His First Steps

On Wednesday, Daniel and mommy went for a walk with our good friends Audrey and Kay. Our kids are getting so big, it's hard to believe they are almost one year old. As a matter of fact, Daniel will be one in just over a month!

After visiting with Kay and Audrey for a bit, we decided to visit with some other friends...Ande, Lauren and Raven. Raven is becoming a big girl as well, although she is younger than Daniel, she is now pulling herself up, crawling and trying to cruise. She helped mommy and daddy harvest vegetables for the farmers market. While we were there Daniel and I sampled 3 different types of sauerkraut, and learned that Day Lilly roots are edible, got to see a Jerusalem Artichoke and mommy bought some mustard greens ( which I have never had before) and stinging nettles for tea. We got home, started dinner; then daddy got home and started the grill. While he was outside Daniel took his first four steps...that's right...FOUR! I started hollering for Brian, I am sure he thought something was terribly wrong, but he was able to experience his next couple of steps.

Since Wednesday he just keeps on trying to step more and more, and he is a good walker..of course I may be a little partial, but I have such a talented little boy. I hope to get some pics up of him walking soon.

New Laundry Room?!

So my girlfriend Kay had this contest on her blog and I decided to enter it. If you win, your laundry room gets a makeover, a new washer and dryer and a years supply of Wisk Detergant. Tell me what you think do I have a laundry room dungeon?

Abby and Daniel become playmates!

Today I saw a sight that I never thought I would. Abby and Daniel were playing together in the living room. I was in the kitchen planting seeds and looked out to find Daniel waving a bonnet from my baby doll at Abby, and Abby swatting at it. Here are some photos of the two in action.

Spring is Near

Well, spring is right around the corner and Daniel and I are getting ready. We had a wonderful weekend with Sitto, she came down from northern Ohio on Friday and spent the whole weekend with us! We went to the new outlet mall in Cincinnati, and had a wonderful time... even though it rained the whole day. Mary and I both got a little something to take home, Mary bought Daniel his Easter suit, and a sweater with a bracelet, and I got a great deal on a new top and dress pants. Then in return for Brian babysitting, Mary made a wonderful dinner of Tuna, steak and potatoes...with Brian's expert grilling. :)

Today, Daniel and I went to visit with great grandma, and the rest of the Haungs clan, and grandpa even stopped by. We went shopping to get some special onsies for Daniel, that will soon be embroidered, and his first pair of shoes. One pair are classic white, the others are Timberland hiking boots. I was a little in shock at the price of baby shoes, but I guess it's something I'll have to get used to. Daniel will be ready to go walking/hiking with mommy and daddy this spring and summer.

Sunny Sunday

Playing Frisbee with Daddy

I can't be thankful enough for this wonderful weather we've had. Our temperature today topped out around 52 degrees, very light breeze and perfect for playtime out in the yard.

love the smell of laundry on a line

Daniel is feeling the yarn and enjoying all of the beautiful colors

Our morning started out at church where little Daniel was having a slightly off day due to the loudness of the music in the parish . Daniel and I sat in the gathering space where the sun was hitting us from the windows, I was still able to hear a good part of mass, and we even made it back in for communion. We then went to Perkins for breakfast; Daniel got to try some new things today including hash browns, pancakes, and applesauce. He loved his breakfast very much, and decided to show us just how much by swaying his head and dancing in his high chair to Miley Cyrus...the boy is hooked on her song 'Party In The USA'.

"Here mommy, your turn." :)

Abby trying to influence Daniel to let her outside

We got home from lunch and Daniel and I took a 2 hour nap! When we got up, I asked Brian if he wanted to go outside and play for a bit so that's what we did. Daniel crawled around outside, felt the brown grass and crispy leaves...as well as try to taste them...and played frisbee with daddy and I. We had such a fun filled and amazing weekend , I wish it wasn't ending. Tomorrow we are supposed to have more fantastic weather with a high nearing 60 degrees...back to the zoo, and to buy a walker with Grandpa Snodgrass. :)

Crisp Leaves
Yummy, yummy

Cincinnati Zoo: Our first family trip

What a beautiful peaceful day we had today. Daniel has slept like an angel the last three nights, and he slept in until 6:30 this morning without any night wakings. When we got out of bed, the sun was shining even with a little frost on the cars I just felt so very happy and blessed for all of the wonderful people in my life. I have a wonderful immediate and extended family who care so much about us and what more could you truly ask for.

I knew the weather was going to be wonderful for a walk, and I have been wanting to get up to the zoo, so we decided ( I decided this last night) to take advantage of what Mother Nature is giving to us this weekend and take our family to the zoo. Even though it was still a little chilly, we were able to take jackets and a blankie for Daniel and we were all very comfortable. We were able to see so many of God's creatures today, from the Gorillas to the Peacock, so many magnificent animals. Seeing them is such a wonderful thing, and yet sad to that they are locked up in cages and unable to live the life they were born to live.

This has been a wonderful Saturday that I will always treasure, and I am looking forward to many more visits for Daniel. Daniel, mommy and Grandpa Snodgrass will be going back to the zoo on Monday. I hope that Daniel will appreciate and understand what these beautiful animals bring to our lives and will always be kind to all beings, wheather human or animal.
