Great End to a Bad Week

Wow, what a week we have had.  It started out awful, just no fun at all.  Last Saturday, was a relatively good day, my darling husband gave me a much appreciated break, and I was able to take two back to back yoga classes.  The new teachers did a wonderful job there first time teaching a large class.  Then we all went out to Costco and dinner.  So far so good, right?  Wrong, after we all got to bed we woke up at 1:30 to the sound of Daniel throwing up all over his crib, this upset tummy did not end as quickly as it came.  Instead, he was getting sick about every 20 - 30 minutes till about 10 am.  The next few days we tried to rest as much as possible and let little Daniel recoop from his evening of illness.  Wednesday, we went to Great Grandma and Grandpa's as usual.  Overnight Wednesday night...mommy was up sick.  Thursday I found out Grandma and grandpa were sick, as well as my dad!  Then on Friday night Brian was up sick all needless to say, we decided it would be best to cancel our Haungs Chrismas exchange for today ( Sunday) .  After Brian rested yesterday and overnight, he felt pretty good, we were able to have our family Christmas, and even ended our evening with a delicious Turkey.  None of us feel 100% yet, whatever stomach virus we had kicked our butts, but we are feeling a little better each day and we are looking forward to seeing Brian's family this weekend.

On a good note, Christmas was a blast today...last night Brian and I worked on putting together the train set Santa brought for Daniel, and when we woke this morning, after opening presents at the tree, we noticed snow tracks going out to Daniel's playroom...boy was he surprised when he saw his new train table!  I think other than naptime and eating, he spent the rest of the day from about 8:00 am till 8:00 tonight playing with his new trains  :)

There is nothing like seeing your child's eyes light up when they have a toy they absolutely LOVE!

Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend, and we are looking forward to sharing our next weekend of Christmas fun with our Kandell relatives.

St. Nicholas' Visit and Updates From the Week

What a wonderful cozy family weekend we had, it was cold and dreary, but we enjoyed spending the whole weekend doing things as a family.

St. Nicholas Day falls on December 6th each year, but since the 6th fell on a Monday this year we decided to have it a day early.  On Saturday night Daniel went to bed and when he awoke Sunday morning we told him to look by his tree and see if there was anything in his shoes.  He loves the lights on his tree, so of course that was the first thing to grab his attention.  Then he looked inside his shoe and saw that St. Nick left him a train called Stanley.  So much fun to see his face light up when he gets trains, or even hears a train.

Daniel has been a very busy boy this week, even skipping naps, he has so much energy it's amazing.  He isn't the only one who is energetic this week, his brother has been bouncing, flipping and kicking like crazy too, I swear it's almost 24/7.  It is starting to interrupt mommy's sleep, as well as the fact that my body is starting to get achy, especially around my pelvis and lower back.  Went to see my midwife this Wednesday and everything looks great.  I have no swelling, which I started to get around this time with the last pregnancy, and I should hear by Monday how my iron and glucose levels are.  Tomorrow we will be at 28 weeks, hard to believe it is going so fast.

Our friends Phil and Amber are getting married on February 5, 2011 so with that in mind, we are hoping baby will allow us one last night out together, before making his appearance.  Daniel will be staying at Grandma and Grandpas since Bowling Green, KY is about 3 hrs away.  I am also planning a women's yoga workshop the last weekend in January.  I am currently waiting to receive my prenatal license for yoga...I have to renew my insurance, pay my license fee and renew my CPR before I will be sent my certificate, so it will likely come in January as well.

So that's our update for this week, hope to write more over the weekend.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

It is 11:00 at night, Daniel has been in bed for a little over an hour and daddy and mommy are sitting and enjoying the quiet time.  After a night out looking for a Christmas tree we finally got one!!  It is a Colorado Spruce I believe, and although fake, it is our first full size family tree, and I am very happy with it.  It is a 6.5 ft prelit tree and it is ready and waiting for us to decorate with Daniel tomorrow.  Of course, we do have a 2 ft. tree as well, which will be put in Daniel's room this year.  His stocking is also ready for Saturday night, since St. Nicholas will be visiting and leaving a little something for a good little boy.

I am hopeful that maybe next year I will be able to get a boot for each of the boys, since that is traditionally what St. Nicholas fills on the evening of  December 5.

Our nativity is also set up now, although I had to put it up on top of our dining room table due to the fact that it is porcelain and could easily be broken.  Someone else has been interested in our tree...I think our kitty Abby might enjoy the tree as a napping place.

Ready for the Holidays

26 weeks 4 days

Wow, I knew it had been a while since my last post, can't believe it was way back in August!  Time to update  :)

November is almost over, in the last few months we have had a death in our family , weddings and a new birth.  Although the holiday season had a sorrow beginning with my great uncle's passing on the 24th, we were able to rejoice in knowing that he is with my aunt and no longer feeling pain.   We also had  the birth of a new baby in the family on November 18th, his name is Edward James Hornschemeier, and is a blessing for the family.

We found out a few weeks ago that we are expecting another baby boy!  We are 26 weeks and 4 days along and time is flying at supersonic speed.  I can't believe that in just 13 short weeks we will have another little angel join our family.  I do believe nesting begins at anytime during pregnancy, I have noticed I sometimes get in a heavy duty cleaning mode, and I know there is no way I can get everything done that I want to in a days time.  I have also been crocheting a lot lately, making diaper cakes and getting anxious for Christmas when I will get another crafting tool! :)

I have so many ideas of things I would like to do, now it's a matter of putting my mind to doing them and figuring out how best to market myself.  I am hopeful that this week I will be able to get a few more items made so that I can put them on my other blog, Yoga, Yarn and Motherhood...I haven't updated that one in about 8 months, shame on me!

Oh well, I'll leave you with a belly shot and some photos from our Thanksgiving with Glenn and Mary, and wish everyone a wonderful and blessed week  :)

Entertrainment Junction

Wow, if you have never been to a model train expo...even if you have no interest in them, this is something you have to see.  Brian and I were like two kids in a candy store!  Daniel was so excited and happy to see Thomas and his friends.

Okay, guess I have to tell you all how we got to see these amazing trains.  Well, on Friday my grandmother and aunt went to Coney Island pool and the staff there was giving away tickets to Entertrainment Junction...FREE tickets!  So gram got us 4, then went back Saturday and got us 6 more.  It costs nothing for kids aged 3 and under, so we only had to use the tickets for Brian and I.

What a place!  We walked through the front doors and Daniel got a huge smile, started kicking his feet in his stroller, and pointed at the giant mylar balloon in front of us shouting Ta, Ta!  This is Daniel's way of saying Thomas, and there were Thomas and his friends everywhere.  We went into the little store and there was more Thomas!  As well as lots of beautiful model trains and victorian doll houses and furniture. We got to walk through the train museum, the expo center, Daniel and I even took a ride on Thomas!  What a wonderful place for children and adults alike, we will definately go again!

Another month come and gone...almost :)

Wow, it's hard to believe, another month is almost over.  What a month it's been, we started out July with a family vacation to northern Ohio.  On Tuesday, June 29th our day started like normal, although I had some details to finish in the house, as well as packing for our trip.  I had been feeling all week, low and behold we found out that little Daniel is going to be a big brother!  So this was an exciting start to our trip, and we weren't too hush about it either.  So after finding out that there is a new family member on board, we left Cincinnati for our summer vacation.

While we were house and doggy sitting for Brian's mom and dad, we got to experience many cool things.  Daniel got a pool, we went to the beach, nature walks in the woods as well as the original road to Cedar Point, and we went to Kalahari resort.  The last couple of days we were up north, morning sickness started to kick in, although not all day and night like with Daniel, only occasionally.

Today is the 25th, I had two excellent days this week, I felt much better on Friday and Saturday, and even ate some things that have been turning my stomach for almost 3 weeks.  I have my next appointment with a midwife on August 3 and will be sure to update everyone.  We are unsure how far along we are, but are guessing somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks., hoping for an early sonogram to verify my due date.

Oh, I almost forgot, 17 days ago my good friend Villie was reunited with her son.  He has been in Bulgaria all his life, and Villie and her family have been trying for about 8 years to get him to the states.  It was so wonderful knowing that they are together again, all of her family.  :)

July Vacation in Sandusky, Ohio

Well, I think our little summer vacation was needed and we sure are having fun.  We had a pretty exciting start to our vacation...but I am not letting the cat out of the bag just yet :).  We are having a wonderful time at Mary and Glenn's house, although we wish they would have been here all week...I know they are having a great time with Jim, Kate and Bob.  Hopefully our family will get to take a trip out to Portland soon.
While we have been here, we got to see Daniel's godparents Dave and Heather.  It was wonderful to cookout and share fun was also the first time since Daniel's baptism that he got to see his godparents.  Daniel was a little flirt with Heather, and had lots of fun on their back porch, and terrorizing their home :)
Today we got to see our friend Andy, and we went to the Lake Eerie Beach.  This was the first time Daniel has been to the beach, even if it wasn't the ocean.  We had such a good time I think we are going to try to go back tomorrow.  We still have a couple of things we'd like to do while we are up here, Kalahari and a ferry ride to the islands are at the top of our list.
I will write a bit more and upload some pictures after we get back from our to you all next week!

Fathers Day 2010

Wow, what a day.  Woke up at 6 this morning with Daniel and made breakfast for daddy around 8:30.  It was a busy day in the Kandell household.  Mommy had a yoga client at 11:00 then mommy, daddy and Daniel went to Fountain Square in the middle of downtown Cincinnati.  Mommy enjoyed yoga outdoors with fellow awesome peacemakers, and yogis.  I am grateful to have such a powerful and fantastic circle of friends in my life.

While I was basking in the warmth of the practice...and baking...literaly, Brian and Daniel sat down, father and son for some ice cream from Graeters.  While we were outdoors we walked around the square and even splashed around in the fountain.  Our evening ended with dinner at Quaker Steak where Daniel got to order a grilled cheese and applesauce off the kids was his first time eating a full restaurant meal.  He did great, made his way through all of his applesauce, 4 mum mum crackers, and about 3/4 of his grilled cheese!

As we rounded the last turn for home Daniel fell asleep, and for the first time in his short life he slept through the process of changing diaper, clothes and brushing his teeth.  Even when he was a few weeks old, he always woke up when we started changing him.  My little angel had a wonderful, but exhausting day; he is sleeping peacefully and I'm sure having the sweetest of dreams.  It was a perfect Fathers Day, and I am so in love with my husband and son.  I hope all the fathers out there had as wonderful a day as we did.

I am not only including pics from today, but also from my cousin Eric and his wife Allison's wedding on 6/19/2010
