Thump Thump

We are now 19 weeks and 5 days and I have finally begun to feel some of baby's acrobatics. On Wednesday morning I felt bubbles on the right side of my abdomen and then later in the morning felt a few thumps toward the center of my abdomen. They are scattered throughout the day, but it's the most amazing thing I have ever felt. Next Wednesday is my 20 week checkup, and we will be at the halfway point. At that time Brian and I will be able to set up our sonogram and we are hoping to find out the sex of the baby by the end of the week. We will keep everyone up to date. Below is a picture from our 8 week ultrasound. We hope to have more pics posted soon. Brian has been a big help this past week in finishing up the painting in the Kitchen, this weekwnd we are hoping to finish the bathroom and begin planing the nursery. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful man in my life.

16 Weeks

November 12 was our last appointment. We are about 16 1/2 weeks pregnant and everything is going very well. I was able to hear the babies heartbeat on Wednesday, and the Dr. said that when we go in for our 20 week checkup on December 10 we can schedule our next ultrasound. Brian and I have talked quite a bit and we are going to find out what the sex is. I know the whole family is anxious to know what we are having, and we are hoping that the baby will show it's goods. I am all done with morning sickness, I have felt great the past few weeks.

Brian also had an exciting start to the month finding out that he is getting a raise at work. This will be a great help with a new year and new baby on the way. I am still going strong in my Yoga certification, and I am beginning to get more private clients.

Windstorm 2008

At 1:00 this afternoon we have our first prenatal visit...I am dragging Brian along with me. I am excited and of course a little nervous since I know there will be a lot of testing involved. Hopefully I will have most of the results from the tests by the end of the week.

This week started in a very crazy way. On Sunday afternoon Cincinnati experienced some of the highest wind gusts in years thanks to the Texas hurricane. In Cincinnati alone over 600,000 were without electricity, and many are still without. Our house did not get damaged, we lost a couple of tree limbs, others we are close to had more damage. Brian finally got to go back to work today. We keep in our hearts those whom this tragedy hit worse in Texas. I know I have a few friends there and my prayers go out to the families and I hope they are able to rebuild their communities quickly.

halfway done with the kitchen and bathroom

A few weeks ago we were able to share the good news of our pregnancy with family and some of our friends. For the past few weeks I have felt wonderful, this week on the other hand is a different story. Not only have I had a migraine this week, but I have also had morning sickness this whole week. New to the list of dislikes would be chicken, it does not sound or smell appealing at all, and although I can stomach it right now the smell of ground beef about does me in.

I have my first prenatal appointment next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. I am excited even though I know they will only be doing tests this visit. By the date of my first visit I should be just over 8 weeks, the nurse I spoke with told me that at our second visit at twelve weeks we would get to hear the babies heartbeat on our first ultrasound, I can't wait.

The kitchen is starting to shape up, we are working on the framework at the moment, the color is a dark green and the walls are pale peach. Our bathroom no longer looks like a prison bathroom, but like a warm and relaxing bathroom. Brian will be working on finishing these two rooms over the weekend since I will be at school. I can't wait to see everything finished.

Announcement

What a busy weekend we've had. Mom, dad, grandma, Jason and my girlfriends came over on Saturday to help us with preparing the kitchen for painiting. So far so good, we have the whole kitchen primed and ready to paint. Brian is going to start some of the actual painting this evening when he gets home. Here are some updated pictures of the kitchen.

We also found out last week that we are 5 weeks pregnant! Baby should be due around the end of April. This has been such an extraordinary year, and we can't wait to have a little one running around our home.

New Job

Well, this has been quite a fun filled week. Not only are we getting ready to prime the walls in the kitchen today, but I also started a new job! I am a new sales associate at New York and Company in our mall. I think this will feel wonderful. I love being a teacher, but with the economy the way it is I believe that having another job in an area with a lot of traffic will keep me busy and happy.

Yoga this week was great too. My teacher training is going well and for the initial certification I only have 8 months left. I have learned several new postures that I had never tried before and have become more confident with some of the postures that I was unsure about practicing. It is great to be able to accomplish something that you work so hard for.

Picking Colors

Brian and I went to home Depot on Saturday to look at some paint colors. We have several options like yellow, pink, blue, green, and peach. Looking at the color swatches we brought home, I am leaning towards the peach or the yellow, both are very light and will add just enough presence to the room. I decided that I do want some color in the room, just nothing too bold. Brian got the stove out of the way on Saturday night so I was able to get most of the wallpaper down. Behind the fridge is all that is left now, then we can wash down the walls and prepare to paint!

Along with the kitchen this coming Saturday, we are going to paint the bathroom. Since our bathroom has several shades of brown, beige and cream in it's tile, I have chosen a honey beige color to paint the room with. I am looking forward to getting the house repainted this year, I think it will make the house look bigger inside (especially since the walls in the rooms are pretty dark) and it is an inexpensive way to begin to update our home.

Kitchen Remodeling

Well, this is the first time I have ever used blogspot before. I have seen so many people do it and I feel it is a great way to share my life with friends and family.

Brian and I recently decided that we would like to start remodeling our home. Over the summer we used our generous wedding gifts to begin work on our backyard. Home Depot came to our rescue and we were able to try a vegetable garden, we also worked a little more on our flower beds. Unfortunately with work schedules, the sweltering heat, and the lack of water in Cincinnati our flowers are a little and garden are a little sad. We were able to salvage some tomatoes, onions, strawberries and even banana peppers for ourselves and family to sample. Next year I hope to be able to work a little harder in the garden, maybe going out first thing in the morning will work out a bit better.

This week I began to transform our kitchen. My mother, father and I have been working daily on de-wallpapering our kitchen walls. I knew this project would be difficult, but it is wiping me out! I have spent, with the help of my parents about 3 hours each day on our kitchen walls, and have discovered areas that need repair, or areas that have been painted several colors from pink to green. Next Saturday, Brian and I with the help of our family and friends will begin painting our kitchen and bathroom, updating and taking the first of many steps to make this 1920's house our home.
